98 Girls Elite Crowned at Queen City

The U12 Girls Elite team struck gold at the 2011 Queen City Soccer Tournament over Memorial Day weekend! The team battled for wins in the first three competitive games, earning them a place in the Championship match on the Memorial Holiday. Showing their class, a moment of recognition was observed before the kickoff. Facing a possible 1-1 draw with just 3 minutes left in a nail-biting finals match, SuperCoach Keri Heedum inspired the girls to bring on their best. They promptly drove up the pitch and netted a 2-1 game winner for an absolutely thrilling Championship finish. Congrats to Coach Heedum, and to the U12G Elite on winning 4-straight matches.

Success this weekend for the U13 Boys Elite and Coach Nick Dressman!  They were Finalists for the U13 Boys Silver Division in this weekend’s TFA United Cup Tournament.  The boys fought hard all weekend, went to the finals and then into overtime, losing in the last two minutes of the second ten 0-1. What a nice start to the season.

Last year the u11 Girls Select team started their 2010 Fall Season playing in their first tournament together (the Dog Days of Summer).  They went 0-3, scoring two goals and yielding sixteen.  Over the weekend, they started their Spring Season by playing in the TFA United Cup.  This time they went 4-0 and secured their first tournament championship in true ‘Hammer FC’ fashion.  The girls scored twelve goals while yielding only three.  Solid defense, timely goal-keeping and good ball movement ruled the day.  What a difference a full season of training makes! Congratulations to all of the girls and Coach Mike!

Congratulations to U11 Girls Academy Team who went 4-0 and this weekend at the Cincy Challenge to take the championship. They finished strong in each of their games, even coming back from two goal deficit to win their first game. A special ‘ooh-rah’ to Clara Morrissey who was a Rock Star in goal during a slow start in the second game for the girls. Congratulations to the team on a fun and fulfilling weekend as well as Coaches Mike Davin and Keri Heedum.

99 Select Girls Take on the Challenge

Congratulations to U11 Girls Select Team who made it to their first finals this weekend at the Cincy Challenge eventually losing to SCSA’s top team but going 3-0 in their bracket. The girls have come a long way in a short time together. After winning their third game to ensure a trip to the finals, the opposing coach said he hoped “his team would be able to play that well in a couple of seasons”. Congratulations to all of the girls who gave it their all this weekend and to Coach Mike Davin.

99 Boys Dominate at the HiFive Cincy Challenge
Two Hammer Teams Challenge Each Other in Finals

The Boys U11 Academy and Select teams both won their groups and advanced to the finals for a Hammer FC versus Hammer FC showdown at the HiFive Cincy Challenge.  Both teams were undefeated going into the finals and had scored a combined 23 goals while only giving up 6.  In near record high heat with dust rising off the field, the teams faced up with coach Nick Dressman sitting at the half line watching his two teams.  The Select team came out strong and pulled ahead in the first half, but the Academy team rallied in the second half and came from behind to tie it up.  Then, with only seconds left in the game, the Academy team scored the game winning goal and earned the championship.  Congratulations to both teams and coach Dressman for a job well done.

Both the U13 Boys and Girls Premier teams went 3-0 in bracket play making it to the semi-finals.  Unfortunately, both teams lost their semi-finals matches.  The U13 Girls lost a heartbreaker in PKs.

The U11 and U12 Premier Girls and the U10 Premier and Elite Boys each went 2-1-0 for the weekend.  Each team wound up losing well played matches.

Overall, an exceptional weekend for Hammer FC teams.

99 Boys Finalists at Dog Days

The Hammer FC U11 Boys Select team was a finalist in the 2010 Dog Days of Summer tournament hosted by CSA.  The boys won 2 games and tied one before falling in the Final, 6-2.  The U11 Select team is a new team, and so this accomplishment is considerable, especially given the little time the players have been together.  Congratulations to the players and Coaches Rashawn and Nick for a great preseason with this team and we look forward to more success in the future.
