Hammer FC has developed a program that will offer training education to recreational organizations with the goal of improving the level of play and appreciation of the soccer for all players. The mission of Hammer FC is to develop soccer players to their fullest potential, and through the game, help each player to grow as a person and an individual. Hammer seeks to nurture a lifelong passion for the game. The Hammer FC Recreational Development program is designed to meet the needs of volunteer recreational organizations and their players.
Hammer FC has a long history of being a pioneer and steward for player development in the Greater Cincinnati area. With over 25 years of service to the community, Hammer has been instrumental in developing the love of the game among many thousands of young players. Most recently, Hammer was a pioneer in the development of our Youth Development Academy that has been copied by many Club organizations. Hammer also led the charge in OSYSA to adopt small-sided soccer through U12. Hammer FC is also the only club on the eastside that does not have a formal competitive U8 program. We do not believe that competitive U8 soccer instills a love of the game. Hammer FC is a principle based organization that supports the ideals of player development over the ideals of winning at the younger ages.
There are no formal partnership requirements to the Recreational Development program. Our goal is to drive a passion and a commitment to the game; not drive self-promotion. Therefore, there are no costs or requirements to participating in the Hammer FC Recreational Development. If your SAY or Recreational organization is interested in understanding more about our program, please contact Thom Nickley at nickley@classicshammerfc.com.
Thom Nickley has been with Hammer since 1997. He is widely regarded as one of the top Youth Trainers in the Region. Thom led his teams to multiple league and top-ranked tournament titles. He developed many players who have gone on to have success in the Ohio South Youth Soccer Olympic Development Program (ODP). Many of Thom’s players have made the State team and have been invited to participate in ODP Regional Camps. Thom is a life-long Cincinnatian who graduated from Wilmington College with a degree in Athletic Training. Thom also attended Miami University for graduate work.
More importantly, Coach Nickley has a skill and passion for training youth players that is unmatched. Thom takes a very disciplined approach to teaching player skill development and applies a fun approach to it. Sometimes it is tough to determine who is having more fun; Thom or the young players. Thom also has a long history of working with and developing young coaches.
Hammer’s Recreational Development program is designed to meet the specific needs of each SAY/ Recreational Organization. We will not take a “cookie-cutter” approach to your program. Coach Thom Nickley will work with your organizational representatives to develop a program that best suits your objectives while maintaining our principles of player development. Again, if you are interested please contact Thom Nickley at nickley@classicshammerfc.com.
