Samantha Bradford named to the ESPN Rise All Area First Team
Samantha Bradford, a member of the U18 Premier Girls team since U8, has been named to the ESPN Rise All Area First Team. Bradford was a four-year varsity starter at Holy Cross, leading the Indians in goals and assists her sophomore, junior, and senior year. As a senior, Sam served as a captain and was named Most Valuable Player, First Team All Region, Second Team All State, and First Team Cincinnati Enquirer Girls Soccer All Stars. Bradford will play her collegiate soccer at the University of Alabama- Birmingham. The U18 Premier Girls Team saw two other players recognized by ESPN Rise. Midfielder Torrie Lange and goalkeeper Carrie Martin were both named as a "Top Player" in our area. Congratulations to each player for being recognized by ESPN!
John Sandmann Shines at McNicholas
John Sandmann, a member of the 1993 Boys Premier Team, has been named to the Greater Catholic League (GCL) All Star- Second Team for the second consecutive season.Sandmann has been a varsity starter at McNicholas High School since his freshman year.The team has won the GCL Central Division crown during his freshman and sophomore seasons with an overall record of 22-6-8.Sandmann is part of a defensive unit that allowed a division low 22 goals during the 2009 campaign.
Torrie Lange named a Top Player by ESPN Rise
Torrie Lange, a member of the U18 Premier Girls Team, was named one of the Top Players in Kentucky by ESPN Rise. Torrie was a four-year varsity starter at Notre Dame Academy. Lange helped lead the Pandas to the Kentucky State Finals this past fall. The senior captain was named to the Cincinnati Enquirer Soccer All-Stars (First Team), received First Team All Region and First Team All State (East) honors. Torrie will play her collegiate soccer at Western Kentucky University.
Timmy Knauer Named 1st Team All League
Timmy Knauer, a Sophomore at Batavia High School was named to 1st Team All League- SBAAC. Timmy has been a starter since Freshmen year when he earned 2nd team all league honors. As a result of his play and leadership, Timmy was voted team captain for the upcoming 2010/2011 season. He is a fierce competitor as defensive and midfielder. Timmy has been playing soccer since he was 5 yrs old and hopes to play at the collegiate level. He has played with Hammer since moving from Baltimore, Maryland 3 years ago.

Chelsea Smith named to the 2009 NSCAA/adidas High School Girls All-Region IV Team
Chelsea Smith, a member of the Classics Hammer U18 Premier Team, was named to the 2009 NSCAA/adidas High School Girls All-Region IV Team. Smith was the starting forward and captain for Lexington Catholic High School in Lexington, Kentucky. Scoring 26 goals and helping lead the team to the State Final Four, Smith was also voted the team’s Most Valuable Player. Chelsea was also awarded First Team All City, First Team All Region, and First Team All State Honors. Smith will play her collegiate soccer at Western Kentucky University.
Austin Juniet Selected to 4th Consecutive Kentucky ODP State Team
Hammer U16 player, Austin Juniet, has been selected to be part of the Kentucky ODP 2010 State team. This is the fourth consecutive year he has been selected to represent the Bluegrass state. He has been selected to go to the Regional Pool Camp in 2007, 2008, and 2009 and hopes to be chosen again this year.Austin has been a starting player on the varsity soccer team for Newport Central Catholic, for both his freshman and sophomore year. In 2008 and 2009 Austin was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year for his high school as well as being named to the Kentucky Regional Team for 2009. Austin will play for the Stars N Stripes Team in the summer of 2010 and play two international tournaments in Europe.
Carrie Martin Named GGCL Grey Central Division Player of Year
Carrie Martin (McNicholas High School) was named GGCL Grey Central Division Player of the Year for the second consecutive season. Martin was the starting goalkeeper for McNicholas High School, the 2009 GGCL Grey Central Division Champions. Carrie played in 18 games for the Rockets and recorded 100 saves during the season. Martin was also named to the Southwest Ohio All Area Team (Division II). Carrie has been a member of the 1991 Premier Girls team at the Classics since U9 and will play her collegiate soccer at SUNY Binghamton University.

The following Hammer players were named to the 2009 Cincinnati Enquirer Girls Soccer All Star Team for their performance during the fall high school season:
U18 Premier Girls Players Named to the NSCAA / adidas Scholar All-East Region Team
Anna Albi and Xanni Brown have both been named to the NSCAA / adidas Scholar All-East Region Team. Albi, a senior at The Summit Country Day School, was a four-year varsity starting goalkeeper for the Silver Knights. Anna is a member of the National Honor Society, the Student Senate, and is an editor of the school literary magazine. Albi carries a 4.3 GPA.
Xanni Brown is a senior at Cincinnati Country Day School and carries a 4.5 GPA. Xanni has received numerous art and writing awards and served as an editor of InWords. Brown is a member of the school’s academic team and was an American Math Council winner. Xanni, a forward, was a four-year varsity starter for the Indians and served as a team captain her senior year.
My name is Doug Saylor, Classics Hammer Board Member and this Saturday, February 6, I will be participating in the 2010 Polar Plunge for Special Olympics . Not only will I Get My Plunge On, but I'll be raising money for children and adults in Kentucky and Ohio with intellectual disabilities so that they can have the opportunity to experience the joy of sports training and competition.

The U18 Premier Girls team boasts a team average 3.87 GPA. Seven players are members of the National Honor Society, two are members of the Spanish Honor Society and one a member of the National Latin Honor Society. Several players received Academic All Southwest, Academic All Ohio, NSCAA / adidas Scholar All-East Region, and First Team Academic All State (KY) accolades.
Additional commitments will be announced in the coming weeks as players finalize their admission status at several prestigious universities around the country.
Classics Hammer FC is very proud of the many scholar athletes that have graced our club over the 22 years we have been in existence. This year’s college signings are a continuation of the rich tradition Classics Hammer has in developing players to their fullest potential. We are very proud of these players for their commitment and dedication to the game and their academics.
